“How much does a wedding photographer really cost?”
And just as importantly…
“How do I know I’m hiring the right one?”
You’re in the right place. I’m breaking down what you can expect to invest in your wedding photographer—plus the most important questions to ask before signing the dotted line. Because spoiler alert: your photographer isn’t just someone who shows up with a camera—they’re the one who’s by your side all day, capturing your once-in-a-lifetime moments. And if you book us – we are with you before, during and after your wedding day! 🤍
So, How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost?
Wedding photography pricing can vary a lot depending on location, experience, what’s included in the package, and the style of coverage. But here’s a general idea of what to expect in Wisconsin—and what you get at each price point.
Average Wedding Photography Costs in Wisconsin
$500–$1,500 – Entry-level photographers or part-time hobbyists.
May include limited hours and 100-200 digital files only
Lower prices often mean less experience: This can be with posing, lighting, or limited equipment.
Great for elopements, budget micro weddings, or couples that want to book a mid-range photographer for a few hours
$2,000–$3,000 – Mid-range photographers
Includes more coverage time (6–8 hours) and all your digital files
Engagement sessions often included
Good for clients that want – Quality editing, consistent style, reliable service
Narrower range of services and this may still be the photographers part time gig.
Our Wedding Packages start in this range.
$3,000–$5,000+ – Full-service professionals that include wedding albums (like me!)
Clients receive an above-and-beyond experience with fast communication, expert posing guidance, and a passion for storytelling
8–10+ hours of coverage, second photographer options, and custom timeline planning
Engagement session, heirloom album options, and print credit included
Add-ons like videography, drone, guest portrait booths, and legacy product design
High-touch service from booking through album delivery—and beyond
10+ years of experience with deep vendor relationships and creative vision
Good for clients that want to feel and re-live their wedding day for years to come.
What You’re Really Paying For
Yes, it’s about beautiful photos—but your investment covers so much more:
Years of experience capturing real wedding moments (not just pretty poses)
Professional gear + backups (because things happen- it was pouring in this photo!)
Time spent culling, editing, perfecting your images and designing your album
Clear communication and planning before the big day
When you’re investing thousands into your venue, decor, and florals, it’s worth it to ensure your memories are captured with someone that values your day just as much as you do!
Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer Before You Book
Not sure how to vet your options? Don’t worry—I’ve got you. Here are 10 essential questions you should ask any photographer you’re considering (and the answers I’m happy to give!):
1. How would you describe your photography style?
Fearless, light-filled storytelling. I specialize in capturing raw emotion, real connection, and the in-between moments—no matter the lighting, weather, or timeline. With an upbeat presence and confident eye, I thrive in any situation to create timeless images you’ll love forever.
2. What’s included in your wedding packages?
Here is a direct link to our Wedding Collections. Most of my couples choose 8 or 10 hours of coverage, a second photographer, a full engagement session, and a Legacy Wedding Album.
3. Do you offer videography?
Yes! New in 2025, we are offering videography highlight films as an add-on to photography collections—perfect for reliving your vows, toasts, and dances. If you are intested in just Videography we do have separate collections too!
4. Will you help us with our timeline?
Absolutely! We do all the work before your wedding so you can just soak the moment in on your wedding day! 6-8 weeks before your wedding, we like to sit down and have a conversation about all the wedding day details -from getting ready, to family photos to your dance floor fun. I’ll help you craft a timeline that works with your location, and priorities—so you can relax and soak in the day.
5. How do you back up our photos?
Your memories deserve to be protected! This is were my geeky side comes out. While I am photographing your day, I have my camera save 2 copies every image I take. After your wedding, I back up all images to multiple hard drives and your digital gallery.
6. Can we see a full wedding gallery?
Yes, and I encourage it! Here is our Client Gallery. Seeing a full day helps you understand how I capture everything—from the early candids to the late-night dancing.
7. Do you travel for weddings?
Heck yes! I’m based in Wisconsin but love exploring new venues across the country—and beyond. We have worked with wedding travel planners and even have collections that include travel! Have a place in mind, let’s chat about how you want to be photographed.
8. How long will it take to get our photos?
You’ll receive a sneak peek within a few days of your wedding, and your full gallery within 4-6 weeks. Albums take a bit longer (10-16 weeks) as they are hand-made in Italy but are oh-so-worth it.
9. What happens if you get sick or have an emergency?
Your contract with us protects you if this happens! I’ve got a solid network of talented photographers and videographers lined up. Your wedding is always covered even if I have an emergency.
10. Do you offer albums or wall art?
Yes! I offer custom designed Legacy albums, parent albums, and wall art deigns so you can relive your wedding day every time you walk by.
So… How Do You Choose the Right Photographer?
It’s not just about price. It’s about:
Trusting their experience
Loving their style
Feeling comfortable with them (Our body language says a lot in photos – Your images will look 1000% better if you feel comfortable with your photographer)
Knowing they’ve got your back—no matter what
Your wedding photographer is the one vendor who will be with you more than anyone else on your wedding day. It’s worth finding someone who truly gets you.
