There’s something timeless and grounding about celebrating love outdoors, surrounded by the quiet beauty of Wisconsin’s natural landscapes. As a Wisconsin based photographer, one of my favorite places to capture these intimate moments is within the serene beauty of Dane County Parks. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a couple whose love story fit perfectly with this rustic, peaceful backdrop.

This wasn’t just any engagement session — it was a natural engagement session, meaning everything about it felt effortless and organic. From the casual way they held hands to the way the wind played with her hair, each image told a story of comfort, closeness, and quiet joy. Laughs, whispers, and golden-hour glows — that’s the magic of a nature-centered shoot.

Dane County Parks offers some of the most beautiful engagement locations in Southern Wisconsin. Tall grasses, winding trails, and wide-open meadows provide a dreamy, textured background that works in every season. What makes these parks stand out is their versatility. Whether you’re walking hand in hand through open prairie or sitting beneath the shade of century-old trees, the scenery complements the connection between couples in a soft, non-distracting way.

Malorie has a custom designed ring along with Nick’s “manly” ring. The rings really show their character and who they are. Nick surprised Malorie with a dress to wear for their photoshoot too.
