When Megan and Kai reached out to me about their engagement session, they knew they wanted something a little wild, a little romantic, and a whole lot of “them.” So when they suggested one of my favorite places in all of Wisconsin—Devil’s Lake State Park—we were all instantly on board.
Devil’s Lake, located in Baraboo, WI, is one of those magical places that can look completely different depending on the time of day and season. For Megan and Kai, we caught it at its best: a quiet evening with warm golden light and just the right mix of adventure and calm.
Why Devil’s Lake is Perfect for Engagement Photos
If you’re considering engagement photos at Devil’s Lake, take this as your sign. Whether you’re hiking to the bluffs, walking through the woods, or watching the sunset lakeside, the variety of backdrops here is hard to beat. Plus, it’s a great excuse to make a day of it—pack a picnic, bring your pup, or crack open your favorite drink as the sun goes down.
Sunset by the Water
After capturing some epic shots on the bluffs, we made our way down to the lakeshore just in time for sunset. The sun dipped behind the rolling hills, casting the water in soft golds and pinks. Megan and Kai kicked off their shoes and dipped their toes in the water—pure summer magic.
These two weren’t afraid to get a little playful either. We splashed around at the water’s edge after the cozy night with snuggles on the rocks. Their joy and connection made every moment feel effortless.
