Marissa and Jared’s wedding at Chorus Public House in Stoughton, Wisconsin was nothing short of magical. With a love story that began during the pandemic and a shared passion for tabletop and role-playing games, it was only fitting that their big day embraced a full Dungeons and Dragons wedding theme. From rolling a D20 during the ceremony to a reception filled with laughter, dice, and adventure, this wedding was the perfect blend of romance and nerdy fun.
How Marissa & Jared Met

Marissa and Jared first met in Wisconsin, where Marissa was finishing school and Jared was working. Like many modern love stories, their first date was during COVID—Jared cooked chicken parmesan for Marissa, though the smoke alarm had other plans! Sparks flew anyway, and their relationship grew through shared laughter, late-night gaming, and lots of time with their three beloved cats.
In May of 2023, Jared proposed during a trip to Chicago to celebrate Marissa’s graduation. At the Museum of Science and Industry, he surprised her with a family ring passed down through Marissa’s side. Over a tabletop exhibit (fittingly nerdy!), Jared asked her to marry him.
A Weekend of Celebration at Chorus Public House

The couple’s wedding weekend began with a cozy rehearsal dinner at Chorus Public House, where family and out-of-town guests gathered for food, laughter, and heartfelt toasts. By the time the wedding day arrived, the space was beautifully transformed thanks to Fater Fairytale Wedding Planning.

The reception decor leaned into the Dungeons & Dragons theme with dice scattered on tables, small nods to fantasy throughout the room, and plenty of whimsical touches. Guests were even encouraged to pick out their favorite dice to add to their own collections—a detail that tabletop fans especially loved.
🎭 A Touch of LARPing Fun

One of the most unique parts of Marissa & Jared’s day was how it felt a little like a live-action role-playing adventure. From the moment guests entered Chorus Public House, they were transported into a world of imagination and storytelling. Just like in LARPing, everyone had a role to play in celebrating the couple’s epic love story—whether it was cheering as the D20 landed on a natural 20 during the ceremony (or truthfully it was a 1) or joining in on the playful nods to their favorite campaigns.

It wasn’t about costumes or battle quests, but about fully immersing themselves in the joy, laughter, and creativity that Marissa & Jared bring into their lives together. Their wedding day was more than a celebration—it was an experience, a little bit of fantasy made real.
The Ceremony: Rolling a D20 for Love

In true Dungeons and Dragons wedding style, Marissa and Jared incorporated a D20 into their ceremony. To seal their vows, they rolled the dice together, symbolizing the adventure ahead of them.

Later in the evening, the dice came back for a fun reception twist: if guests wanted to see the newlyweds kiss, they had to roll a 17 or higher! This playful game gave everyone a good laugh—and gave Marissa and Jared plenty of time to enjoy their dinner before smooches became inevitable.
